Lawrence Henagan is currently serving his second term as Mayor of the City of DeQuincy. Prior to his election as mayor, he served as a councilman for two terms. In his capacity as mayor he also serves as instruct G Vice President and Executive Committee Member of the Louisiana Municipal Association. Also, he is the past president of the Louisiana Municipal Gas Association and continues to serve on the Executive Committee to that organization.
His full-time job is as a Locomotive Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad where he has worked for 37 years; 36 of those as an engineer. Since 2001 he has been a volunteer presenter for Operation Lifesaver promoting crossing safety and serving as a mentor to other Southwest Louisiana presenters.
Lawrence is a member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy where he currently serves as a deacon and trustee, and in recent years has served as a chairman and member on pastor search committees and the personnel committee.
Lawrence is a native of DeQuincy as is his wife, Della. They have been married for 37 years and are the proud parents of two sons, Lee and Lance; both graduates of LSU.
